Nebraska Panhandle Counseling Center is expanding access to high-quality behavioral health care in western Nebraska through a comprehensive, community-based approach. Operating from our downtown Kimball location at 112 S. Chestnut, we provide outpatient substance use disorder assessments, medication management and addiction medicine, outpatient therapy, and mobile crisis response, bringing care directly to individuals when and where it’s needed most. Our innovative “treatment-in-place” model, supported by a customized mobile unit, allows us to serve Garden, Deuel, Cheyenne, and Kimball counties with rapid response, follow-up care after hospitalization, and concierge-style behavioral health services delivered right to a patient’s door.

This expansion is designed to reduce reliance on emergency departments and law enforcement, offering safe, effective alternatives for individuals experiencing behavioral health or substance use crises. By improving access to timely assessments, medical withdrawal management, and ongoing treatment, we aim to keep individuals closer to home and connected to their support systems. Our work is focused on meaningful outcomes: reducing emergency department visits, lowering incarceration rates, decreasing costs for communities, and ultimately creating a stronger, healthier region.

Looking ahead, the renovation of the former Kimball Health Services building will further enhance this continuum of care. Once complete, the facility will include adult sub-acute crisis and medical detox beds, adolescent crisis services, and residential treatment options, ensuring individuals across the Nebraska Panhandle have access to the right level of care at the right time.
